Lula – Artist, Curator, Cultural Connector.
Raised in Addis Ababa and now based in Kigali, Lula brings a unique perspective to the African creative scene. With a background in sociology and education, her work is deeply rooted in community-centered impact. She uses art as a tool to explore identity and to create visibility and representation, not only for herself, but for the wider creator community across the continent.
As an artist and entrepreneur, Lula wears many hats: painter, muralist, curator, and event organizer. But in 2025 personal brand and online presence define reach and influence, so Lula needed a digital home that could capture the full breadth of her work.
Problem
Limited portfolio sharing – She relied on sending PDF portfolios, which was inefficient, static, and unable to fully showcase her personality, creative process, and breadth of work.
No streamlined sales system – Managing orders, customers, and inventory manually consumed valuable time and created room for error.
Scattered identity – As both an artist and business owner, Lula’s story needed a platform that could unify her brand, her events, and her collections into one cohesive experience.
Solution
The website was divided into three core sections that reflect Lula’s identity and offerings:
Art – A curated gallery showcasing her ink, acrylic, and mural pieces, with the option for visitors to request commissioned work.
Events – Split into two categories: Corporate and Creative. Each page highlights past events, acting as both a portfolio and a way to attract new opportunities, while clearly distinguishing between her two different audiences.
Collections – A streamlined e-commerce store powered by WooCommerce, where framed art, canvas pieces, and wearable art can be purchased locally and internationally.
The online store integrates:
Currency conversion for global customers
Inventory and product management for easy updates
Promotional tools to help her scale sales efficiently
By building this website, Lula’s personal brand evolved to a cohesive digital presence, a space that tells her story, engages her community, and fuels her business growth.
